Exhibition at Mies Van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona. 8 months of research on the travertine flooring and the tension existing between nature and the urban setting.
"'Inviting Life' proposes a re-reading of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich’s Pavilion based on its constituent materials.
Following the project ‘Beautiful Failures’ (2019-2021) – which questioned fragility and vulnerability from the two most delicate materials of the Pavilion’s construction: glass and travertine – in this second part, ‘Inviting Life (2021-2023), we explore the changes that transform materials by natural effects from the study of travertine slabs.
The growth of mosses and lichens on the Pavilion’s stones is often interrupted by maintenance tasks that seek to give the Pavilion an aspect of invariability that corresponds to its mythical and prefixed image. The effect of the garden’s biotope on the Pavilion’s materials and the links with other organic agents create an imbalance, a tension, which can produce a change because matter is never stable."

Refugio Domingo is a gastronomic and scenographic endeavor aiming to delve into themes encompassing art, the act of eating, sociology, architecture, culture, and the senses. Analyzing their often complex and intricate interactions, Refugio Domingo provides a sensory encounter for contemplation.
The proposal for "Si El Color Tuviera Alas" ("If Color Had Wings") seeks to create a dialogue between gastronomy and the artworks of mexican artist Paloma Alcazar, extracting geometry from the pieces and organic movements from brushstrokes, emphasizing the senses through gastronomy.
The proposal suggests the table as a canvas and the ingredients as tools to create a work with diverse materiality, effectively translating Paloma's artwork senses into a tangible and flavorful language through the menu and drinks. It invites visitors to collectively take part in creating a piece on an unconventional canvas.

“Does humanity have a chance to survive lastingly and successfully on planet Earth, and if so, how?” This question formulated by Buckminster Fuller last century is especially relevant in our current Climate Change scenario. Some of the utopic and radical architects of the second half of the 20th Century were very much focused on imagining desirable futures for the planet, the cities, or the architecture with an incipient ecological consciousness and a concern for efficiency. The aim of this year’s Fall Pavilion workshop has been to revisit Bucky Fuller, Frei Otto, and Yona Friedman and build a pavilion following some of their principles.
The Elisava Pavilion has been designed and built by more than 30 people. Its non-hierarchical constructive system allows an organic way of growing in different places of the volume, thanks to the simultaneous intervention of a multiplicity of minds and hands coming from very diverse backgrounds.
A set of 30mm*60mm and 30*30 wooden sticks are assembled through irregular angles with the only requirement of a drill and the aim of acquiring structural stability. The fact of avoiding right angles facilitates the job for non-experts and allows a bottom-up design that takes place on the construction site. A tensile fabric covers the volume mediated by a set of glasses in order to complete the pavilion."
